Strahovski and Honeymooners

Although a hiatus for Chuck means a hiatus for me, I don’t really care for the break.  Hopefully, you all enjoyed re-watching First Class and Beard.

At any rate, there’s sure to be fun now that Sarah and Chuck are finally a cute couple.  What this means for us Yvonne Strahovski fans is that we get to see a whole new side of Sarah Walker — love.

I know I can’t wait, so let’s get to the review of Episode 3.14 — Chuck Versus the Honeymooners.

“I’m pretty good with knives.”

Well there’s certainly no doubt that Chuck and Sarah are together.  I didn’t count the number of room service visits there, but I’m pretty impressed with Chuck’s… stamina.

Wasn’t Sarah in Europe after being kidnapped?  Nice of Shaw to pack up her unmentionables before he whisked her away.  Wait… am I complaining about Yvonne Strahovski in lingerie?  What was I thinking?

But they’re together.  And that’s what matters right?  It’s really great to see Yvonne be able to loosen up a bit.  I think we got all new expressions from her face this week.

“Babe — this didn’t happen by accident.”

I could almost be happy watching a Awesome/Ellie spinoff.  I have no idea what the premise of the show would be, but sign me up.

I was really hoping we’d get to see more of drunk Ellie.  Who can forget that when Ellie gets drunk, words taste like peaches.

We also got quite a subdued entry by Jeffster.  Their rendition wasn’t half-bad.  Just a few more tracks and maybe we can get a Jeffseter album.  I’m sure it’ll shoot straight up the charts!

Strahovski and Other Guys

I managed to narrowly avoid most spoilers about tonight’s episode.  That means that as far as I’m concerned, Chuck better beat the holy living camel spit out of Shaw before the night’s out.

Yes, I am ashamed to say it, but that one wish is greater than my desire to see Yvonne Strahovski tonight; no matter what she’s wearing… or not as the case may be.

Let’s party like it’s the season finale and get to the review of Episode 3.13 — Chuck Versus the Other Guy.

“I need Casey right now.”

Okay, I have no idea what’s going on.  Shaw went from evil psycho-killer to calm and caring.  That was a complete 180.  Why all that set up to just ultimately forgive her?

I know Casey’s only a civilian now, but I can’t believe he’d not go along with Chuck at least in disguise.  Also, Chuck’s just deputizing people left and right this season, isn’t he?

“And the tank — cancel the tank.”

So I don’t know if Sarah is going to be happy or mad with Chuck, but that was a pretty daring rescue attempt.  Okay, maybe it was a tad bit over the top, but still.

I don’t feel bad for Sarah or Shaw.  They were off the grid afterall, and Chuck had every reason to believe Shaw was going to kill her or something.  Maybe he still will, in fact.  What a strange intro…

Strahovski and American Heroes

So things are pretty much a ruttin’ mess at this point.  Sarah thinks Chuck is a killer, Chuck thinks he’s headed for Europe, and Casey’s just a murderer.

I’m not sure how all of this is going to play out, but I’m sure there will be plenty of action to go along with it.

I can think of nothing else to do but get to the review of Episode 3.12 — Chuck Versus the American Hero.

“This is all moving very very fast.”

I have to say that the opening was just about the tamest we’ve ever seen.  I guess a lady did die, but other than that there wasn’t too much exciting going on.  I laughed at the arrow pointing to DNI HQ at the beginning.  That was a nice touch.

“Bob Hope airport to be exact.”

So Chuck is off to spend his last week as a civilian winning Sarah back.  I’m not sure he has a plan past that, but surely he doesn’t think it’s going to be super easy to convince Sarah to join his team.

Also, though I understand the show is founded in some good slapstick, Chuck knows better than to wave around a gun in a waiting room at DNI HQ.  That’s just a good way to get shot before you can say “it’s not loaded.”

“Do you ever knock or use the door?”

Though still slow paced, things are starting to pick up.  I’m almost sad to see what’s sure to come after the break.  Things are light, funny, and sweet.  Just like the Chuck of old.

So I really like how they gave everyone a reason to help Chuck.  Seeing Casey, Morgan, and Awesome working together is like a dream come true.  It’s that same sort of feeling that you get when you think of Wolverine taking on Batman.

“Chuck better move quick if he wants to get his fro-yo ho back.”

That quote was hilarious.  I had to pause it to take it down.  I’m a little disturbed that Jeff & Lester offered to gather Shaw’s stool sample, though.  Just ew.

Speaking of Shaw… though I haven’t always been the biggest fan of him, I sorta liked his conversation with Chuck about giving him advice in Rome.  It was played off pretty well with Sarah scowling in the background.  Pretty funny.

Strahovski and Final Exams

strahovski-ep310-050.JPGSarah is really Sam, and now Casey is really Coburn.  Can we stand any more change?  Is this the night that Chuck’s going to finally pull the trigger — literally?

I hope you’re filled up with Subway sandwiches and ready to read because it’s time for the review of Episode 3.11 — Chuck Versus the Final Exam.

“More like baby kicks to the groin!”

I’m going to review differently this week.  I’m going to write a section or two per commercial break.  We’ll see how it goes.

So the intro was pretty fun.  Casey slamming Jeff and Lester’s heads together was pretty classic, and it led to some of the best Big Mike we’ve seen since the great crockpot incident of 2010.  I don’t know how long ‘civilian’ John Casey can last, but I’m liking it so far.

“It’s America Chuck; everyone has a choice.”

That quote sounds like it came straight off of Adam Baldwin’s Twitter feed, doesn’t it?

Anyway, that guy at the beginning who Chuck was chasing — I could be mistaken, but I think that was Chuck co-creator Chris Fedak.  If not, it sure does look like him in the shadows.

Shaw and Sarah coming back wasn’t completely fun.  It amazes me how silly Chuck can still be.  Of course it’s not going to be a scantron test.  /facepalm

Strahovski and Tic Tacs

So now Morgan’s in on the fun.  Is that a disaster or a recipe for awesome?

Are Ellie and Awesome headed to Africa, or will Devon see logic and stay near the best spy team in the country?

I don’t know how Morgan’s going to fit into things, but Adam Baldwin is about to get his due in Episode 3.10 – Chuck Versus the Tic Tac.

“Spywork is dangerous, buddy.”

I have to say that it was good to see Chuck and Sarah working together with minimal angst.

They’re fun to watch as friends, as well as lovers, so anything that isn’t awkward is welcome at this point.  I’m glad things were put on the back burner to focus on some good old fashioned spy stuff.

It’s also nice to just see the Intersect work.  As it was intended, on demand.  Although Chuck is no Bryce, it seems like just a matter of time before Chuck can do this more reliably.  Whether that detracts from the show or not is the mystery that will unravel with time.

“You went on missions?”

I was excited about Awesome and Morgan squaring off about their spy knowledge, but I think it played out even better than I expected.  Watching them circle each other was a blast.

It’s interesting that Morgan was willing to back off of his initial position Chuck being the safest place she could be.  Morgan knows about the Intersect, but Awesome doesn’t.  You’d think that would tip the balance in Chuck’s favor.

I was really worried we’d see less Ellie & Awesome with the budget cuts, but I’m glad to see them continually included.  That meant no Big Mike, Jeff, or Lester this episode though.  I miss them, but I can stand to be away from them for a week.
