Strahovski and First Kills
The weeks are ticking by as we get closer and closer the Chuck season finale. Hopefully, it’s not a series finale!
I’ll take my intro this week to remind everyone to write your letter to NBC — Chuck has to come back or I will be lost and roaming this world with no purpose.
But for tonight I have a purpose; for tonight we focus on first kills. Time for my review of Episode 2.20 – Chuck Versus the First Kill.
“It’s time to try our latest flavor – Obama Guava.”
This is a fitting quote to this episode because First Kill was a completely different flavor of Chuck. I don’t know what they were smoking when they scored this episode, but the music placement was atrocious.
It was also sadly another episode with not nearly enough Yvonne Strahovski for my taste, but at least she got one of her coolest gun fights to date near the end.
I’ll talk more about the pacing and music near the end of the review, but let’s get to the content of the episode.
“Here they are — Mr and Mrs. Bartowski!”
So here comes Jill again. She wasn’t nearly as hateable this time around, but she certainly wasn’t likeable either. I feel like the writers felt like they need to ‘finish’ the Jill storyline and worked her into a plot she didn’t need to be part of.
I have nothing against Jordana Brewster, but does she always talk as if her jaw is broken? Maybe there was a bad accident on the set of Fast and Furious or something, but she barely moved her teeth the entire episode.
She provided a pretty convenient plot device to get Chuck defiant, but the chemistry that the two had in the earlier episodes was completely lost this time around.
I guess that’s to be expected, but at least she redeemed herself and created a reason for Beckman to get mad.
“Emmett is the straw that gently stirs the Buy More drink.”
The Buy More plot wasn’t half bad. As usual, it mirrored Chuck’s life, but this time I actually feel like the Buy More plot had more painful consequences than the spy plot.
So what if Jill got away — Big Mike got demoted! It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out. I can only assume he’ll get his job back. I’ve always hated Emmett, but this seemed particularly low even for him.
I enjoyed the Princess Bride-esque reasoning when the Buy More crew was trying to figure Emmett out, and seeing everyone dressed to impress was a good time.
It’s always good to see Anna make her semi-annual appearance, but she wasn’t used to any great effect. She certainly looks better in the ‘whore’ skirt than her business suit.
“You can always deploy the Morgan.”
The most reliable part of Chuck is Adam Baldwin and he didn’t fail to disappoint in this episode. Few characters can go seamlessly from cheating on a test to wrestling a shotgun from a baddie.
Baldwin does it with ease and wit, and I’m not ashamed to admit that he’s the reason I ever started watching this show. The writers know what they’ve got with Baldwin and I like to see them flaunt it.
“Talk about beauty and the beast; you must be loaded!”
Not much to say except — EWWWWWW!! Sarah can’t be Chuck’s cousin.
And I’m a completely heterosexual male, but I’m pretty sure Adam Baldwin doesn’t qualify as a beast. He’s plenty man-pretty in my opinion.
Sure he doesn’t stand up to Yvonne Strahovski, but who does really?
“Good luck on the test, Comrades.”
The action near the end was really top-notch. It started with Casey kicking butt, but it segued into some of the best Sarah Walker butt-kicking we’ve seen in a while.
As many of us cube-dwellers have learned over the years with nerf gun fights, cubicles make excellent cover. Yvonne Strahovski put it to some good use with rolling and shooting that any action star would be proud of.
It’s not often that you get to see a woman so capably play the action hero part, and I applaud the writers for giving that to us. Yay Yvonne Strahovski! Someone should start a fan site about her…
“We’re not gonna take it!”
Okay, so that’s not exactly a quote but the background music was so ridiculously distracting this episode I’m sure you will all recognize what scenes I got it from.
Seriously, I don’t know if there was a technical error or what but the music in this episode was an epic disaster. It completely destroyed the pacing by overpowering what should have been simple conversation.
The music was fast when it should have been slow, loud when it should have been quiet, and cheery when it should have been serious. I didn’t check the credits on this one, but someone seriously misjudged something.
Whether it was editing, scoring, or simply bad mixing I don’t know, but it really ruined what I think could have been a much more enjoyable episode.
“Take off your watch.”
All of the shenanigans in First Kill really lead up to that final scene in the Buy More with Chuck and Sarah. It’s a perfect setup where we can see the couple on their own, plus we get to see Casey do what he does best — play the hunter.
I’m super excited for this plotline, and I hope it turns out to be everything I’m hoping for. Although I’m sure it will turn out okay in the end, it’s hard to imagine a world where they get back in Casey’s good graces.
It will be a fun chase, though, and I can’t wait to review that one next week.
Until then, let’s talk it out. Glad to see Jill free? Did you find the music and pacing as distracting as I did?
Screen Caps will be up tomorrow, but until then it’s time to talk about Chuck’s first kill.

I thought this episode was AWESOME!!! I felt like it went back to the essence of CHUCK and how it blends so many genres into one kick butt show. As always I thought Casey was hilarious (especially when he tried to cheat off Chuck) and I really liked the storyline of Jill. Of course the chemistry isn’t there because Chuck loves Sarah
Which of course leads us to the end scene that was FABULOUS. I cannot wait for next week and how it all plays out. Big Mike has to get back his job. I’m sure Morgan is going to come up with something brilliant. PS, I love the film references CHUCK has throughout the seasons
The actions scenes were amazing and I’m glad that Chuck didn’t really kill anyone. Or at least not on purpose. “The Morgan” is pretty darn effective!
As for the music, I’m sorry but I didn’t really notice…
April 13th, 2009 at 9:26 pm
I actually liked the music! It was one song that I knew!
OMG, that episode was just AMAZING! Yvonne/Sarah and the fight scene?! So great! I just…Jill! I actually liked her better this time!
I have nothing else to say. Maybe later when my brain calms down, I’ll leave a better review.
Great review, Lykaon!
April 13th, 2009 at 9:26 pm
Maybe it was just me… I watched it in HD. Sometimes the music balance is difference between SD and HD. Or maybe my sound system just didn’t like what they did.
Who knows. Maybe my ears are messed up.
April 13th, 2009 at 9:28 pm
Yeah I thought the episode was kinda disjointed until the awesome ending. Didn’t really pay attention to the music though. I’ll have to watch it again..and again…and again…
April 13th, 2009 at 9:30 pm
Thanks, Lykaon! I’m usually not first to respond, but I’m so pumped that I couldn’t wait! I’ve always thought Jill’s jaw was broken. I detest the fact that Chuck gave her the ring.
I also think, at first blush, that the opportunities presented in the Chuck-Sarah “trust” dialogues could have been much more poignant. I am thankful that Sarah finally took the ultimate jump for Chuck, albeit somewhat stoically, but that is to be expected from her, I think. I am disappointed in Casey. He reverted to the “company man” role.
I didn’t care much for the wimpy “Morgan.” I think I hear what you are saying about the poor music, but I was not really aware of it.
I’m ready for Casey to shoot Emmett. Actually, I’ve been ready for Casey to shoot him for about 12 weeks.
Yvonne with two automatic pistols and popping off Fulcrum agents was extremely cool. Now if she will only shoot Jill…
More later, I’m sure…
April 13th, 2009 at 9:35 pm
Amazing episode, loved everything and I too, didn’t even notice the music very much,to be honest.
When Sarah was hugging Chuck and said “Take off your watch” my whole family expected her to say “YOU have to run” but when the word “We” left her lips there was a collective “Holy ***, yes” in the room. Love the turn the show took tonight.
April 13th, 2009 at 9:40 pm
The episode was fantastic. Casey really carries the show and he kept that role tonight. Don’t get me wrong, Casey carries the show; by carrying I mean revolving around the sun that is Sarah.
I found the music very fitting actually with the action scene that was ensuing.
The promo for next week…WOW. I believe charah explodes…pun intended. Cant wait to watch again and again and again.
April 13th, 2009 at 9:44 pm
First time ever I think that the Buy More segment was better than the spy segment.
I agree about the music and I think the whole ep was, well…. They could have started the episode with the last scene and skipped the first 41 minutes.
Maybe as a filler ep to setup the next big arc it would have been ok, but really, the third last ep of the season?
Fortunately they saved the day with the closing promo ?!??!
April 13th, 2009 at 9:51 pm
I watched it in HD and the music didn’t bother me, but I’m probably more used to loud music from being in a band. I loved the episode; we laughed out loud several times. Great write-up!
April 13th, 2009 at 9:53 pm
The question is, do either of these REALLY count as Chuck’s first kill? I don’t see much difference between Bernie or the Fulcrum recruiter guy, and the agents killed by the Fulcrum Intersect in suburbs.
April 13th, 2009 at 10:20 pm
I really didn’t mind the music so much. And honestly…so what? They do such a great job with the music I feel like they’re allowed to make a fluf here or there.
As for the episode, I think I would have been alright with just the cliffnotes because, the ending excluded, nothing really happened. Just a giant setup episode. With that said, I am REALLY excited for next weeks.
WOOHOO
April 13th, 2009 at 10:35 pm
Lykaon, that photo of Yvonne at the “Sexiest Stars” event, with the strands of hair in her eyes…I continue to be stunned by her exquisite beauty in that photo. Venus lives. Thank you.
But back to the show: I agree with Ambaryerno. Chuck’s first kill(s) were the Fulcrum agents in the suburbs.
This episode carried the storyline forward, but…was Scott Bakula’s ABSENCE as noticeable to everybody else as it was to me? While I don’t think there was any real role for him to play in this episode, I would have thought there would have been a cameo, at least. Especially after NBC’s shameless promotion of him, both on air and on its website. “Watch Chuck AND Quantum Leap?”
This story could have been told without Jill, unless she has some final nefarious role to play in the last episode or two, at which time Sarah shoots her. Why could Chuck have not used his newly-acquired capacity for calling up Intersect information to find out where papa B. was without busting Jill out? Unless there was great audience hue and cry about Jill being incarcerated for the rest of her miserable life?
I really am disappointed that Casey, despite the wonderful interjections of humor, reverted to the stereotypical role that defined him for much of this season. The “test” was fun, both from the standpoint of Casey trying to cheat and Chuck keeping him from doing so. Is the CIA/NSA so naive that they think that Fulcrum will be fooled by Chuck and Casey showing up disguised only with nerd glasses???!!!!
I truly hope that more of Sarah’s inner character (as in “Cougars”) surfaces in the last episode(s), her jumping Chuck’s bones notwithstanding. I have felt here lately that in attempting to show Sarah as withdrawing into herself, with occasional outbursts of her true personality, has taken away from the power of her conflicted personality (”Lisa, my middle name is Lisa,” saying good-bye to her Dad in DeLorean, etc.).
In a sort of follow up to our conversation last week, I find it interesting that Sarah’s sexual responses to Chuck are always “passionate,” if not violent (as the wonderful preview suggests and as the “bomb” episode of Season 1 and “Seduction” suggest), especially as I see Chuck as, overall, a more tender, softer, lover (self-projection?). My Sarah, though, likes the “passionate” Sarah.
April 13th, 2009 at 10:56 pm
Ambaryerno and chuck2:
Wasn’t it Casey who pushed the button in Suburbs? Chuck was in the room with Sarah and everyone so I’d have to give credit to Casey not Chuck for those kills.
I think this episode was outstanding and much like everyone else I didn’t hate the music, in fact I didn’t even notice it because I was just waiting for what was going to come next. This was definitely a Buy More centric episode which I think plays well into the plot tension building that seems to be going on in the Chuck side of things. Judging by the promo I think we are going to get two season finale type episodes not just one. Just wondering how they are going to top what looks to be an incredible explosive episode coming up next week. Going to run it back again right now on Tivo, more comments tomorrow.
April 13th, 2009 at 11:00 pm
You are correct, JT. Casey’s kill in “Suburbs.” Although Chuck gave him the nod
April 13th, 2009 at 11:04 pm
I have to say I liked this episode alot!
I didn’t feel the music was a problem at all, atleast not enough that I even thought about it.
And Sarah’s stand of with dual guns blasting was just frickin great! And the end, thats what we have waited for…
Next week cannot come soon enough!
April 13th, 2009 at 11:08 pm
Wow, another fast paced episode. Am I the only one that was wondering whether Sarah would have betrayed Chuck or not????? She seemed to change her mind only after Chuck mentioned what Jill said and that he wasn’t sure if he could trust Sarah. Was she going to betray him and then had a change of heart?
Here is an E! entertainment poll on which show to save this season: http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/watch_with_kristin/b107874_save_one_show_help_your_fave_see.html?choiceIDs=%2C69959&captchaEntry=&12316=69959&poll_uword=part

One of the best episodes so far. Set the table for a wild couple of weeks before the season’s end. I guess we all know where Sarah’s loyalties lie now. I don’t believe that she would have turned him over, even had he not said what Jill told him. As for Jill, she’ll be back one more time….just a feeling.
Even the Buy-more stuff was decent this week, was too into the search for Orion to see the set up of Big Mike coming.
As for the teaser….I can’t wait for next week.
BTW…is it just me or does Sarah look better and better each week.
April 13th, 2009 at 11:55 pm
JT,
Yeah, Casey pushed the button. But it was Chuck’s plan, and Chuck told him to do it. In that regard, those kills are MUCH more applicable to being his “first kill” than Bernie and the Fulcrum recruiter, who he honestly had nothing to do with at all. Bernie had a heart attack, and the other guy slipped on the glass left on the floor when Casey shot the window out. The recruiter was already on his way out the window when he caught on Chuck’s foot, and you can’t honestly tell me that Chuck losing his grip on the guy when he sleeve ripped off counts as him killing someone.
April 13th, 2009 at 11:56 pm
I absolute love this episode! So much lighter than the recent previous episodes. Everyone was acting right, no stupid faux angst. Pure awesome!! And how awesome were Casey and Sarah during the fight/shooting scene? Pure awesome! That’s right!
And Jill, she’s actually not that dislikable this time around as I was expecting. Now that she’s free, she could be back. Not sure I want that though…
April 14th, 2009 at 12:06 am
teehee this episode was pretty epic the last couple minutes and i love yvonne
she’s so hot in her black boots and gun
btw…

vote for yvonne! she’s losing to summer glau
April 14th, 2009 at 12:10 am
chuck2 very true.
I’m going to do a sort of live blog from my second viewing:
“I can’t survive on the outside, I’m institutionalized.”
Jeff’s one-liners send me over the top laughing all the time.
Notice in the van outside Jill’s house when Chuck says the 5 C’s comment how Sarah rolls her eyes. Chuck’s cheesiness even bothers her sometimes.
Why did they think Jill was in Helsinki?
Sarah is definitely still jealous of Jill and Casey knows it. He relishes it actually.
“Congratulations Bartowski you now qualify for conjugal visits.” Gotta love Casey.
“I don’t know if he wants to kill me or eat me?”
Brings back memories of the flash on Bernie and the newspaper article about how Bernie ate the 96 ounce steak and won the free set of steak knives.
“The Morgan.” I am trying to remember back to the Best Friend episode whether they gave us a look at the move when they were flashing us back to Morgan and Chuck’s childhood.
“Now I only violate myself at home or in the car. But never in the nerd herder.” Another gem from Jeff.
“Chuck, the answer is no.” Couldn’t help but feel like Sarah was liking how Chuck grabbed her from walking away. Showing a little initiative for once. But when push comes to shove she’s not going to forget what Jill did to her and Chuck.
Felt like they wrapped the Jill story down in castle. Jill tries to prey on Chuck’s doubts but with a simple nod he lets her know he’s been there done that. Moving on.
$5 foot long. Gotta love the shameless advertising, not to mention the great sandwich choice.
Does everyone carry an iPhone? Uncle Bernie too?
Gotta love all the looks Sarah is shooting Jill in the van. She really hates her.
“Looks like I passed that test.” Nice to see Sarah the one holding down the fort unlike other episodes where Casey is usually the one in the gun fight. Really well done fight scene.
“That’s for flunking me.” Casey is on fire tonight with the one-liners.
Even as Chuck was letting Jill off the hook again, there she is trying to play into his doubts about trusting Sarah and Casey. Glad to see her run off hopefully for good.
The Godfather throwback scene in Buy More had me rolling first time and this time. Love these little tidbits they do. The Shawshank throwback, Die Hard, etc. all great stuff.
“Huh?” Weird moment here, Casey jokingly asks to drop Chuck in a deep dark hole, is granted permission, seems shocked, but then completely out of character compared to the last few episodes, thinks it’s a good idea. I got a little lost here because Casey had been defending not only Chuck but Chuck and Sarah so much lately it just seemed a little odd he was suddenly so ready to pull the plug on Operation Bartowski. Maybe this happened for a reason we’ll learn in the final two episodes.
“It’s about your father, we found him.” The look Chuck gives Sarah is so similar to the Christmas episode after she kills the Fulcrum agent and lies it’s scary. Chuck really doesn’t believe her, and it shows, his relief even seems forced when she tells him “it’s all over”.
“You’re committing treason Sarah, you could go to jail.” Couldn’t help but feel the tension in that car. Sarah is really struggling with this decision and Chuck is really in shock that she has gone this far. No smiles, just all business.
Bring on next week!!!!
April 14th, 2009 at 12:16 am
I didn’t think the music was terrible, but it didn’t stand out like it usually does.
April 14th, 2009 at 12:19 am
I always love Chuck, but lately I haven’t gotten that feeling of pure contentment that I used to after Chuck episodes. Tonight, it was back! Man, I thought that I would be the only one feeling really good about this episode, but it looks like there are some that agree with me. I laughed out loud like half a dozen times. As far as funny goes, I thought this was a great ep. But no captain awesome or Ellie. Anna was back, but didn’t do much. Wow, the teaser at the end really has me excited also. But for now, I want to bask in the contentment of my favorite Chuck episode in at least six weeks
April 14th, 2009 at 12:27 am
The episode was okay. I don’t think it’s as great as Chuck should always be. The music did kinda throw it off for me. The fight scene was awesome!!!!!!! Yvonne/Sarah kicks serious butt! The spy plot was okay, the buy more part was pretty funny. Felt sorry for Big Mike though.
April 14th, 2009 at 12:36 am
SO I really enjoyed the episode. I loved “The Morgan” and all that it entailed. I think the end was definitly the best and I can’t wait for next week! The end with Sarah taking off Chuck’s watch made me squeal! I seriously will not be able to wait a week!!!!
April 14th, 2009 at 1:00 am
There’s another pop culture reference: The 96oz steak. Nod to the Ol’ 96er in The Great Outdoors.
April 14th, 2009 at 1:03 am
A comment on Suburbs: Seems to me, it was Casey’s plan. Casey’s kills.
There is an episode coming up entitled The Ring. I wonder. . .
When I saw the Buymoria plot unfold I was hoping Chuck would actually help get Morgan out of his mess. With Chuck on the run, I guess it’ll have to be Morgan’s scheme that’s fixes it.
In my world: Sarah, Sarah, Sarah err sorry got distracted — Sarah tells Chuck to take off his watch before he tells her he was beginning to think he couldn’t trust her. The scene would have been more powerful for me.
I wish Chuck was 2 hours long so we could get more!
I liked this episode even though it showed me Chuck is so much more of a better person than me. If I was Chuck, I would be going Casey on the bad guys by now!(at least attempting lol) And Jill would have gotten a 1 way ticket back to a dark cell. She still knows what buttons to push. . .
Comrades??? FULCRUM agents can’t say they didn’t know what they were getting into. It’s in their intro to FULCRUM!
I’m sort of surprised Casey didn’t have some sort of tracking device in the ring. . . Or does he? no spoiler just speculation.
I’m hoping Jill gets ended soon. I actually dislike her more now. She seemed to pick up on and play Chuck’s emotions quite well. I really hope she doesn’t martyr herself for Chuck later.
Hey, maybe, while hunting for Chuck and Sarah, Casey can clean some loose ends for us: Emmett, Jill, Beckman, the HR guy, and (add your own here)
April 14th, 2009 at 1:09 am
i’m siding with lykaon on the music issue…at times it was too loud and overpowering…i think the only time it fitted was in the BM with the rebellion…it bugged me the most in the scene where jill tells chuck that he can’t trust the CIA/NSA…they had this ominous music clashing with the soft piano music
the first half of the episode felt slow and odd to me…but when the second half started, WOW! @_@…the BM plot was unpredictable this week…we were led to believe that emmett was dying to get out of burbank BM and probably heading over to the holy grail (beverly hills BM)…lol…poor morgan got used big time in this episode…that kiss from big mike was just so ewww…haha…can you say sexual harassment in the workplace? ^_^ …btw, did big mike put a “hit” on morgan?…haha…morgan better stay close to mama grimes :p
casey was hilarious in this episode…favorite scene was him trying to cheat off of chuck…lmao…they were both so serious in their own ways…i have to say that jill redeemed herself in my eyes and to chuck…i think the scene where chuck released her might have helped steer jill in the right moral direction…she could tell that he really meant every word
chuck’s first “kills” were kind of lame imo…the first one wasn’t really a kill…i really thought chuck would be in shock when he dropped the fulcrum recruiter…he didn’t “kill” him technically but a life was lost in his hands…wasn’t really expecting him to brush it off like that
sarah was faced with moral dilemmas in this episode…from deciding to trust jill or not, following orders to not help chuck and to ultimately stand up to casey and beckman on behalf of chuck…you could she that she was really hurt when casey didn’t stand up for chuck in the end…but i still get the feeling that casey was going to help them in the end…maybe, he would of tranq chuck to make it look like they’re going to the bunker but only to devise an escape plan
glad to see that sarah took the ultimate plunge for chuck…i swear if the writer’s ever make chuck doubt sarah again, i’m going to freak out (big time)
next week’s promo rocks…loved how casually NBC played the bedroom scene…lmao…charah fans have only waited like eternity for some major fireworks to happen
April 14th, 2009 at 1:11 am
Great episode. It was worth it just for the last couple of minutes! The promo for next week is AWESOME! I can’t wait. Man, is it still Monday? Next week can’t come soon enough. I didn’t see the Big Mike/Buy More storyline coming. Good job writers. I had a couple of pet peeves about the ep. though. Where was Papa Bartowski? I expected to see him in this episode since they promoted Scott Bakula so much. Where is Ellie/Awesome? Miss them already. It was great so see Anna, but would like to have seen/heard her more than Emmett. Anyway, I still enjoyed the show. The music didn’t bother me, I was too focused on Chuck/Jill/Sarah. Oh well, on to next week’s episode! Save Chuck!
April 14th, 2009 at 1:35 am
Thanks for the great review.
I liked this episode, the next 2 are going to be amazing.
I hate that chuck lets Jill go again. I wonder is this causes tension when sarah finds out cause at the moment she thinks losing jill is her fault and one of the reasons that chuck had to go into hiding.
I also thought it was interesting that at the end they both lied to each other, chuck was going after his dad and said he wasn’t and sarah about finding his dad.
Anyway I cant wait till next week, I hope sarah gets the chance to kick jill’s arse.
April 14th, 2009 at 1:48 am
wow! I’m not surprised but were starting to see how much Sarah loves chuck…she disobeyed orders, ask chuck to go rouge with her, bashed casey…Her spy life means nothing to her anymore, chuck is more important, we can see that..
and then the promo for next week! its about time!
April 14th, 2009 at 2:32 am
quoting reen426 “i swear if the writer’s ever make chuck doubt sarah again, i’m going to freak out (big time)”
I’m totally with you here. I was already annoyed at how much Chuck has been doubting Sarah so much recently…
Eek! Can’t wait to see Sarah vs Casey next week! Beauty and the Beast….HAHA!
April 14th, 2009 at 2:59 am
I sort of agree with the music thing specifically the Duran Duran song playing with Uncle Bernie chase, at first it was just too loud but when I watched it again it sucked less.
I don’t know why but I feel like I’m the only person who likes Emmett. Sure I hated how he betrayed Morgan and Big Mike, but his scenes are kindda funny to me.
Jeffster, I love the brown references being thrown at Lester, and Jeff reply to wanting to go to India. But by far Jeff was the funniest. Jeff never fails a beat with his creepiness.
It was good to see Anna, but she seemed out of place. I’m becoming used to her not being around often. Seeing her was a bit strange.
I miss Awesome and Ellie, I missed Papa Bartowski too. I was expecting the Bartowski/Woodcomb to be in this episode. But well pretty much the finale are all about them. I might as well just enjoy this.
Jill, she somehow made me hate her less. Funny I feel like the writers made this episode a redeeming episode for Jill. For us Charah fans, we sort of felt like Sarah at this point. We felt betrayed and we can never forget she wanted to kill our dear Sarah. I may have hated her less this time but nonetheless I still hate her.
Casey.Casey.Casey. He was just all over the place. He threw more one liners in this episode than I could remember. He knows just exactly when to utter those lines. But i kinda felt bad that he had to be loyal to his superior and wold go on to tranq Chuck.
Finally we have a glimpse of what Charah could be. I know we have been left hanging with Chuck having to be the one talking and Sarah having to just take whatever Chuck says, but God I never thought the words “I know” at the end would be enough to answer our questions on how Sarah feels for Chuck.
And I thought nothing could even get better with the ending….until the promo… They do know how to make people anxious and excited and squirmish all at the same time. I know I’d expect 2 kisses from Charah from the promo I hope they’ve got more in store. We have been robbed too many times already. It’s time they give something back. Hmmm, why can’t Monday some any sooner..

season 2 episode 21 promo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FM7-YKesc4c
what do you guys think?
April 14th, 2009 at 3:52 am
Everything led up to that final scene at the Buy More. I believe that Sarah had the full intention of telling Chuck the truth after they leave. Sarah knows the Buy More is full of cameras; that’s why she looked back at the camera. Telling Chuck the truth in front of the cameras would’ve caused a strange reaction and tip off Casey. After Chuck said that line about trust, Sarah thought she had to tell him right then and there instead of waiting; even if it tips off Casey which it did.
April 14th, 2009 at 5:37 am
Another interesting evening. Only 2 left? Ugh! You guys have pretty much picked this apart and I’m really surprised you missed the most obvious movie reference of all. We all know how much “Spies Like Us” influenced this show; glg20, Emmett Millbarge, etc. How did you miss the parody of Chevy Chase cheating on the test? Casey and Chuck almost copied the beginning of the scene from that movie.
Jill is done. No more Jill. But what about Bryce? There’s unfinished business there. He’s going to pop up somewhere. At the wedding maybe?
April 14th, 2009 at 6:09 am
Havent seen the episode yet
but always pop here for your review and now I look forward to watching what seems to be at least another interesting episode!!!!
April 14th, 2009 at 6:21 am
One more thing…
The creators have hinted that if there is to be a season three (let us pray…) that the show will head in an entirely new direction. We’ve been so wrapped up in getting to the end of this season … and has the speed become breakneck?… that I’ve seen little speculation on what season three will entail.
My own thought is that We’ll get the spy team of Mr. and Mrs. Bartowski. Chuck will need a new cover job though and hopefully Sarah is done at the Orange Orange. Casey becomes the muscle of the team and the whole show moves in the direction of another 60’s classic, the original “Mission Impossible” but with the same quirky humor we see now. Anyone old enough to remember “I Spy?”
Ladies and gentlemen, your thoughts?

the last scene was like CHuck and Jill… but the difference is she’s with a hot, blond SARAH!! wonder what’s next after I saw them kissing on the next episode??? PARENTAL GUIDANCE…
April 14th, 2009 at 9:21 am
OMG LOVED THE ENDING. Episode wasn’t too bad.. I didnt really hate Jill in this one. HAHA.
OMG Yeah I TOTALLY TOTALLY noticed the jaw thing.. I was like.. what’s wrong with her?? Gosh.. I could barely comprehend what she was saying cos I was too busy wondering why she couldn’t open her mouth lmao. Uh.. does Botox do that to ppl?? >.< No offence but I’m just curious…..
April 14th, 2009 at 9:27 am
Oooo ooo forgot to add. Sorry was so distracted by the jaw thing lol
like RW mentioned.. the WE gotta run thing. AWESOME. Hahaha.. but it makes sense too.. sarah would have been screwed if she tipped Chuck off and had the balls to return to the castle with Casey waiting with a tranq gun? lmao.
But anyways.. just that bit of charah at the end with that uber long hug was enough to make my day =))
Oh and didn’t really like that Chuck gave Jill the ring… rah.. he’s just too nice isn’t he..
And the music.. I wouldn’t say it was horrible.. but it was.. weird?? Distracting… but seemed to fit at the same thing… I don’t know.. Just that Not gonna take it song though.. didn’t really notice the rest. =)

Agent 86:
Just my own speculation but could Casey be in for a promotion? Next week is “vs. the Colonel” and since Casey will not doubt be pursuing them AWOL could it be him? Season 3 could see Mr. & Mrs. Bartowski led by Casey at the helm? Could the game changer be a strike on General Beckman? It’s always hard to piece together what’s going on in the promo, especially with this week’s “I don’t trust anyone.” which conveniently left out the “but you” when Chuck was talking to Sarah. Maybe that group of fighter jets is Roark taking out Beckman. That would be a game changer. Casey, Sarah, Chuck, the only three people left who know about the operation.
I’ll stop speculating.

I like the episode and I didn’t notice the music thing.
There’s just one thing I need to tell you…
While the episode was ending I was like:
” What the hell?! Is it over now? It’s just not OK… It’s to fast No… It’s not OK! I wanna more!”
April 14th, 2009 at 12:55 pm
FYI – Over 6 million viewers last night and 2.3 rating better than last week 2.1

@ topajongbranth
your not the only emmitt milbarge lover here…i love emmitt…i find him being hilarious and a weirdo at the same time ^_^
@ JT
that’s the best results we’ve seen in a long time!
…now nbc needs to pick up the slack and promote the hell out of these final two episodes…they cannot squeeze all three monday night shows into one promo!!!…i’m sure heroes and medium are having their very own finale bombers…let’s just hope the 0.2 increase wasn’t due to bakula fans expecting to see him in this episode…nbc misled his fans BIG TIME…not awesome
—————————————————-
i thought the writer’s missed an opportunity between sarah and jill…jill tried to kill sarah last time…i wished that sarah would of given jill a piece of her mind…lol…it was just a little awkward when sarah and jill were together…they just grilled each other with their eyes…nothing more…they didn’t even have a talk-off about their opinions on one another or even any talk about chuck!…the van stake-out at fulcrum headquarters could of been a better scene between them

SCOTT BAKULA WASN’T IN THIS EPISODE
It has been hard for me to really get into the last couple of episodes because I’ve been wondering if NBC is going to renew Chuck. It has been sort of pulling me out of the story where I can’t enjoy as much.
One thing I found odd at the beginning of the episode was where Scott Bakula is announcing the promos for Chuck saying he’s going to be in one of the shows and then he mumbles “Chuck” under his breath.
I was waiting through the entire episode to see Scott Bakula because I thought he’s only going to be in 3 episodes. So I thought this was going to be one of the 3.
The reason why I find it odd and relevant is technically the NBC ad is misleading by saying Scott Bakula is going to be in the show, but he’s not.
Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but it actually seemed like it was a subtle test by NBC to weed out who are the Scott Bakula Fans vs. people who actually like the show “Chuck.”
That way, NBC would be able to get a more accurate assessment as to whether renewing “Chuck” for Season 3 is worth it. If you think about it, if you didn’t have “Chuck vs. the First Kill” inserted in there between the Scott Bakula Episodes, it would be harder to tell by NBC Execs whether the show is successful enough for renewal based off of viewership or if the numbers were just “inflated” because of Scott Bakula Fans stacked on top of the original loyal viewers obscuring the results.
If you think about it, by throwing in a non-Scott Bakula Episode and then mounting it with an ad that says Scott Bakula is going to be in it but turns out that he isn’t is a smart way of weeding out who is loyal.
If Scott Bakula Fans are turned off when they wait for Scott Bakula to show up and he doesn’t, they may get disinterested and not want to tune in to the next couple shows. If the viewership doesn’t suffer, then it would mean that “Chuck” has a strong following.
So I’m just wondering if this is a way of subtly surveying the viewership so that they can decide whether there’s enough of a following to warrant renewing the show.
CHUCK AS THE THING IN “FANTASTIC FOUR”
As the season draws to a close, I’ve been thinking about how they’re going to end it.
Thinking like an NBC Exec, you’re going to make money off of the “Chuck” Season 2 DVD once it’s released. So you the DVD will need to have a complete storyline regardless of whether they renew “Chuck” for Season 3 or not.
If that’s the case, then that would indicate that there will have to be a major resolution. So I assume that would mean we can count on the completion of Ellie and Awesome’s Wedding. I was browsing the summary for the final episodes and it says about Chuck getting an opportunity to remove the Intersect, but his sister Sarah’s Wedding is under threat by Fulcrum.
That’s very much “Fantastic 4″ plot line where Michael Chiklis as the Thing has an opportunity to get rid of his Superhuman Abilities as the Thing in order to go back to old life. However, Reed Richards as Mr. Fantastic is in jeopardy and Victor VonDoom had tricked Thing into removing his powers so that he can’t stand up to Dr. Doom using brute strength.
Chuck is in the same situation where he’ll need the Intersect to save his sister’s life if it turns out that Fulcrum is going to strike at the wedding.
SUPERMAN REMOVING HIS POWERS FOR LOIS LANE
We see the same story in “Superman II” where Clark Kent takes Lois Lane to the Fortress of Solitude where he has his Superman abilities removed so that he can have his normal love life that he’s wanted be with Lois.
However, the threat of General Zod outweighed his personal desires so he has his Superman Abilities reinstated. That’s pretty much the same theme where Sarah is his Lois Lane and the Intersect would be Chuck’s Superman Abilities. He may have to make the sacrifice.
By the way, did I mention the Superman Theme in “Chuck” where the parents of both Chuck and Sarah share birthdates with actors who have played the character Superman over the years?
Jill would be Chuck’s Lana Lang
.
RIFT BETWEEN CASEY AND CHUCK
In regards to Casey, reverting to his normal self is a good move. If you listen to the interviews, people keep asking Adam Baldwin if Casey is warming up to Chuck.
There’s a fine balance between Chuck, Sarah, and Casey. The reason why Agent Alex Forrest (Tricia Helfer) couldn’t work in the mix if Sarah was because she was just a “female Casey.”
The problem with making Casey too chummy with Chuck is that he will eventually become a “male Sarah.” The closer Casey gets to Chuck, the more he gets to respecting Chuck which would mean fewer insults. That’s just not Casey. He’s supposed to be an ass and really tell Chuck how it is.
WEEKEND AT BERNIE’S
The Morgan Move is awesome.
The Intersect Flash of Uncle Bernie with a fork and knife in front of a plate of food while playing “Hungry Like the Wolf” by Duran Duran was hilarious.
Chuck afraid for his life and that Uncle Bernie was going to eat him was the best.
SARAH AS CHUCK’S COUSIN
Sarah as Chuck’s cousin was funny. I read somewhere in the forums a week or so ago where people were talking about the Incest Theme.
I had warned in that Forum Discussion to be careful joking around with that. You never know if that wish might get granted with Chuck and Sarah as kissing cousins.
And just to rub it in to see if anyone was observant, did you notice in the credits that one of the actors listed in the intro credits is “Christopher Cousins”?
JILL REDEEMING HERSELF
Someone had mentioned that they didn’t think that Jill wasn’t necessary.
Personally, I think it was done well.
Jill’s actions symbolize what Chuck wants to see with the good in people.
Jill had the opportunity to escape in the stairwell, but she heard Chuck yelling for help and she came back for him. She really had no reason at all to help him and knew that she put herself at risk of being captured.
I believe this is relevant because you could argue that it subtly indicates Chuck’s choice in women. If Chuck is bad at choosing women where Jill turned out to be a huge mistake, what does that say about Sarah?
Even when it comes to Morgan, he may be an imbecile and do dumb things, but Chuck’s choice in a best friend speaks volumes about Chuck.
There’s that saying, “Show me who your friends are and I’ll tell you who you are.”
CHUCK AS LUKE SKYWALKER AND JILL AS DARTH VADER
Usually people tend to gravitate toward likeminded individuals or those who possess character traits similar to their own.
To see Jill return for Chuck is a compliment to Chuck and shows that being straight arrow and all the times he’s been nice to others actually does pay off.
We live in a very cynical world where people become desensitized or stop caring about others. Cyberspace, creating anonymity, encourages rude or nasty behavior that people engage in online that they would never do face to face or in real life.
It’s nice to see episodes like this that show that the good can triumph over evil.
Luke Skywalker winning over his dad as Darth Vader is one of the major cornerstones of why that’s such a great story arc.
Jill was saying in the episode that Fulcrum changed her. However, the old Jill with the traits serving as the reason why Chuck fell in love with her in the first place.
RATING THIS EPISODE
I’d rate this in the Top 10. In terms of episodes that can be great minus the sexual tension between Chuck and Sarah, it’s definitely the Top 5.
I think if there are episodes that can pull off being interesting when the focus is not on whether Chuck and Sarah will get together, that’s actually good.
If the entire draw or pull for “Chuck” hinges solely on the courtship of Sarah and Chuck, I don’t feel that’s healthy in the long run. That’s because once the two get together, the show loses its steam. If that’s going to be the only pull for why people want to see the show, that’s not good.
I feel the show will burn itself out if it’s always about Chuck and Sarah hooking up. There has to be balance.
WHY STEVE BARTOWSKI CAN’T DIE
I had said in one of the discussion groups that the problem with making Chuck’s dad Orion is that you give Scott Bakula’s character too much power. If he has the ability to remove Chuck’s Intersect from his head, which is a major component of the show, it means that Scott Bakula’s character either needs to have a compelling reason to leave the show or get killed off.
On a side note, I’d said that it would make sense if Chuck’s dad was working on the Intersect because it would explain why Chuck’s mother left and didn’t take the kids with her.
Usually, if a mother ditches the husband, she’d take the kids with her. The mother just split and it would make sense if her reasons for leaving were because she found out what Chuck’s dad was working on.
Personally, I would not want to see Steve Bartowski killed off. However, that means the writers need to give a valid reason for why the dad, who has the power to cure Chuck, must exit the show or go away.
I’m banking on a happy resolution where Chuck’s dad will indeed walk Ellie down the aisle and give her away as the bride to Ellie.
However, what is the reason why Chuck’s dad will leave at Season 2 if not because of Death.
I’m about 80% sure that Steve Bartowski can’t be killed off because that will be a real kill joy for Ellie. Chuck wouldn’t be able to explain why Chuck’s dad ditched the wedding and wouldn’t give Ellie away.
The show tends to go for the happy ending and killing off Chuck’s dad would be kind of dark.
SARAH PARDONED BY BECKMAN TO ATTEND ELLIE’S WEDDING
I’m guessing that by the end of Ellie’s wedding, Sarah probably gets a pardon by Beckman and not court marshalled for treason.
The reason why I say this is because I saw on this Discussion Forum someone posting photos of Zachary Levi and Yvonne Strahovski preparing to do a scene in what looked like the bridesmaid and best man garb.
If those photos are circulating, then it would mean that Ellie chose Sarah as a bridesmaid. If she’s able to show up at the wedding vs. being in hiding from the CIA for treason, then logic would dictate that the issue between Sarah disobeying Beckman’s orders will get resolved by next episode.

@ rodillon
i think your post might even be longer than lykaon’s review :p …lol
April 14th, 2009 at 4:45 pm
@rodillon
I think the Scott Bakula promo flap was merely a poor timing event. They probably shot that promo and should have aired it last week but chose a different one instead. I wouldn’t read into it, I think the decision has already been made in terms of renewal, they aren’t going to run any bate and switch techniques to make a decision now. I am confident it will get renewed for one simple fact that there is nothing remotely close to this show on TV. No single show combines all the elements that Chuck does and so well.
April 14th, 2009 at 5:26 pm
This episode gets my hopes up again. Haha… The writing is great and so is the action. If NBC decides to cut Chuck while keeping Jay Leno on all night, I’m sorry I ain’t gonna tune in NBC after 7PM again.
April 14th, 2009 at 5:41 pm
Nadine, well said. If Chuck is not renewed, there will be nothing to watch on TV – period! Wake up NBC and renew Chuck already!
April 14th, 2009 at 6:09 pm
First off Lykaon, your speed in posting this stuff is very impressive. I checked 20 minutes after the episode ended, and there it was. Unfortunately, I had to get to bed and could not comment at that time.
About Jill. “her teeth were barely moving”…? I always talk like that. Except when yelling, of course. I don’t see what’s so wrong with people talking like that. Also, while her part was really just to transition the rest of the episode’s plot, I thought she did particularly well in this episode. She was acting much more human, making her character more believable. Also, I thought the bit with Chuck giving her the ring and helping her get away was kind of sweet. Her giving him the ring earlier was bland, but the former was sweet.
This is easily in the top 3 best episodes. Awesome action, decent humor, and the ending plot twist has brewed much excitement in me. Casey shooting those two guards with the shotgun was epic, and Sarah vs. the Infinite Supply of Expendable FULCRUM Agents was the best action sequence of the episode.
The ending was great. Casey was fine with obeying Beckman, which I expected, but I like him anyway. Sarah was going to go through with it, but it was so much like a betrayal, and then Chuck’s short monologue about how he trusted her was just too much for Sarah.
As for the music, I do think it wasn’t the best, but it could have been worse. That might be helped by the fact that I really like “We’re not gonna take it”. That song actually caught me by surprise; not everyone has heard it, but usually Chuck episodes will have music that’s more unheard of than that (but still quite awesome).
The ad for next week’s episode looks promising. I expect shooting, drama, and a fight between Casey and Sarah. Oh, and some sex. It should be great!
April 14th, 2009 at 6:31 pm
Thanks, everybody, for your usual good insights. Ambaryerno, about the “96er,” the movie never registered! I was thinking about a cowboy bar in Manhatten, Montana that 25+ years ago offered a 96-ounce T-Bone steak that was free if you could eat all of it (I couldn’t).
Lykaon, if you ever DO take a vacation (cf. April Fool’s Day) you might consider Rodillon, among others, to fill in for you
Rodillon, you obviously have a flair for picking up film references that I don’t (either that or I don’t get to the movies enough!).
April 14th, 2009 at 7:19 pm
I loved the episode. I also quite liked Chuck letting Jill go free. Chuck is a man of principle. To thine own self be true. If he ever loses that then we’ve lost a huge part of why we watch IMO. I mean, Yvonne is only 99% of the show. She can’t carry it all.
This is my favorite TV show. If it goes off the air I’m pretty much done with TV for a while.
Heroes is getting to be like Homer’s Odyssey — a LONGGGG journey to where neither the characters or the audience quite know. If it weren’t for Chuck being on right beforehand I’d have dumped Heroes by now. What else is worth watching for a little break from reality? Nothing as far as I know.
April 14th, 2009 at 8:47 pm
Forgot this great Morgan quote:
“You’re dating the hottest slice of the proverbial pizza.”
April 14th, 2009 at 8:52 pm
The score was pretty fitting, I thought. As consistent as it normally is, at least. I have a feeling that the action scene scoring was what got you. I was confused when I first watched the episode on NBC last night with Hungry Like the Wolf, but I realized watching it on Hulu now that the sequence is supposed to be funny, not thrilling – my complaint is more with the ambiguous nature of the scene than the music, which vainly tried to push the whole “jokey” demeanor (Chuck and Jill were rather serious for a joke sequence, but Ken Davitian waddling down the hallway reminded me of Chuck’s cripple chase with Busgang a few episodes back).
I am of the minority that really enjoyed the Jill arc the first time around, and feel that this was a worse showing for Jordana Brewster. I know 99% of the population of this site is gunning 100 mph full speed ahead for Charah, but the Jill component really advanced Chuck’s character and, as I felt then, started to give Sarah’s character a “jealous” angle w/r/t Chuck, which has been paying off since the Agent Forrest episode. Like others have said, I think it was just a cheap stunt for a few viewers due to Fast & Furious being in theaters, but this episode was full of that (Chicken Teriyaki footlong, anyone?)
The BM storyline didn’t do it for me this time. Way too much setup for the payoff (though, admittedly, Big Mike clowning the Godfather with Morgan was priceless) that was too short. I know the BM has become Bizarro Chuck World with Morgan filling the role of Bizarro Chuck and Jeffster as Bizarro Casey/Sarah, but the symmetry wasn’t perfect. In the BM subplot Morgan’s trust in Millbarge backfires pretty wickedly, but in Spyworld Chuck’s trust in Jill doesn’t have a clear outcome.
I thought the episode was somewhat weak compared to the past few weeks (Cole Barker + Tron Poster + Orion have been pretty darn consistent, Agent Forrest notwithstanding), but the preview… holy hell. What we’ve all been waiting for. Though I’d rather continue waiting throughout the third, and fourth, and fifth, and so on seasons if it means more Chuck.
April 14th, 2009 at 11:18 pm
There can be no doubt that you’ve all been on quite the writing roll over the past several weeks. Admittedly, like most of you, week after week I’ve become increasingly addicted to watching CHUCK and then totally interested in what everyone has to say on here afterwards. (Personally tho, I could care less about Heroes and Medium once CHUCK’s over.) You all NEVER fail to bring to the table some great insight and thought provoking comments about this show. My sincere thanx to all of you who contribute to this site!
@ Paul
I loved the episode too! I’ve gotta say, compared to MOST of the other shows on TV, every episode of Chuck leaves me just wantin’ more. After all, if not just to see Yvonne smile or shoot some bad guy… c’mon, how bad can it be? There just isn’t an American actress like her on TV today. She’s a breath of fresh air, as far as I’m concered. And, yes, so true, Yvonne sure is 99% of the show.
I think your next comment hit the nail squarely on the head… “This is my favorite TV show. If it goes off the air I’m pretty much done with TV for a while.”
Amen, dude. I’m right there with you.
Even though many may feel that there are some other worthwhile shows, there are NONE that I consistently look forward to watching each and every week quite like CHUCK. There has never been a show quite like CHUCK before and, if for some unfathomable reason it doesn’t get to see the light of a third season, I will be s-u-p-r-e-m-e-l-y disappointed.
Plus, it doesn’t quite seem like it would be very fair to poor Alex Baldwin either, after with what happened to Firefly…
April 15th, 2009 at 4:20 am
dammit! i wish next tuesday would come quick! this episode was great great great…lykaon’s right…weird song choices, not as great as the other episodes…the only song i liked was the one at the beginning (mackintosh braun – here). the others? nah, forgettable…
Favorite part was Obama Guava!!! i laughed out loud on that one! who knew yvonne could be soooo lol funny? it would have brought me out of my misery if i were chuck… it was nice that she made me laugh for a change, instead of casey, which is the usual…
lester with the i know a look great but i feel like an IDIIIIOOOT was my number 2 greatest laugh in this episode…this guy is really growing on me, he is sooo funny…the buymore plot was fun too especially when they were kissing ass to emmett…
so so so excited for the next episode! for now, i’ll just watch the obama guava scene over and over again!
April 15th, 2009 at 9:38 am
@ cool_breeze….
you mean Adam Baldwin….
April 15th, 2009 at 2:16 pm
This is the first time I actually liked the music. It was songs I knew. I agree this was a great episode. It contained all the elements of previous good Chuck episodes, answered lots of questions, left you asking questions, lots of laughs, and most of the cast was there.
April 15th, 2009 at 11:40 pm
Oops… thanks JDUM23. Good catch.
April 16th, 2009 at 1:30 am
I have to agree with Lykaon the background music was distracting especially the part were Sarah kick ass! They were not suitable to any of the scenes except the Chuck and Jill momoment (rhymes with Jack n Jill lol)
Can’t wait for the next epi YAY!
April 18th, 2009 at 1:28 am
Some people have less hate for Jill after this episode. Me? I’m wondering when she’s going to bite Chuck in the buttowski for what he did for her in this ep.
And I’m expecting a trifecta: The Yvonne Show gets more seasons, another night and a full order of 22 – 25 eps!
April 18th, 2009 at 6:14 am
I personally liked the music. And I really loved the episode,One of the best.Great Story,Nice use of the Buymore.Plenty of Action,Good use of comedy and The great ending Chuck and Sarah moment at the end.The theme of trust played out well in the episode. As for Jill they made you feel for her a little bit.But if they play it out like they did with Morgan and Emmett it will come back to haunt him and hurt someone he cares about like Morgans Trusting Emmett hurt Big Mike. And in fact it already has even if Jill doesn’t come back because Chuck’s Allowing a Fulcrum Agent who knows their operation to escape was what made Beckman deside to Bring Chuck in.And Sarah was blamed for her Escape. Now Sarah has commited Treason for him and doesn’t know Chuck let Jill Escape. If Chuck Had told them what Jill Did in saving him and telling him where they where taking his Dad maybe They would have been given another Chance.By the way,Yvonne Gave another great performace and Should Get an Emmy. She can do it all.
April 18th, 2009 at 11:43 am
I’ve watched the episode several more times this week. It is the best story arc this season.
I agree Jill was portrayed as being very stiff. Hopefully, she will show more emotional attachment to Chuck when she returns. Jill is essential to keep the tension between Chuck and Sarah. Otherwise, it would be far too easy for Chuck to fall for Agent Walker. When Sarah was taking heavy fire during the fight scene, Jill could have attacked her and redeemed herself with Fulcrum. Instead, she chose to find Chuck and his Dad. I think Chuck will have to choose between Jill and Sarah, just as Sarah has had to choose between Bryce and Chuck in previous episodes.
I would only change one thing in this episode. In the final scene when Chuck asks if Sarah knows she can be sent to jail for treason, she should have replied “Not jail, Chuck. They will kill me.” This would be in reference to Casey trying twice to kill rogue agent Bryce Larkin in Season One.
April 18th, 2009 at 4:39 pm
I agree, myopic333, about the termination order. But Sarah is always trying to protect Chuck from the truth that hurts. It would be another “I’m freaking out” moment, if he ever realizes they are playing for keeps. She knows he doesn’t process things like that very well.
April 18th, 2009 at 7:41 pm
To Don’t Chuck, and Myopic – I think you are slightly
exaggerating with the kill order.
Casey was after Bryce because he ’stole’ the Intersect and was considered rogue because nobody knew his intentions.
This is not the case with Sarah, the authorities know
she doesn’t pose a threat, or a danger to national security. they know she isn’t Fulcrum and that she is
defending the Intersect Carrier.
of course running from her duty and refusal to carry out orders will ‘award’ her a jail time, but no more.
Alex
April 20th, 2009 at 1:57 am
I can understand that take on it, Alex, but. . .
First: I don’t think for a second that they are going to kill Sarah, or that Casey would at this time try to
Second: (IMO) A termination order would actually be a believable result. Rogue spies cannot be assumed to have “good” intentions. If Beckman is as paranoid as she sometimes seems(and should be in her position lol), she’s not going to assume they ran off to spend quality time together. We might, though!
All that being said, I think that adding that one line by myopic would have made the scene more grave and the danger seem more imminent. And maybe that is why they decided against it, too much drama, perhaps?
April 22nd, 2009 at 8:55 pm
I don’t know what other people think but me personally think that chuck vs the colonel was prolly the best episode in a long time…u got the beautiful yvonne strahovski lookin amazing and of course the long awaited serious all out make out session with chuck and sarah n if it wasn’t for morgan maybe more :=P chucks supposed freedom was brought up but of course something is going to happen like his fathers intersect didnt work right or roark (chevy chase) will expose chucks c.i.a involvement to elle and morgan, but im excited to see what direction they take it for the next season.
