Strahovski and the Third Dimension
We’re back!! Wow how I missed Yvonne.
I know some people start getting withdrawals during the hiatus, but I’m one of those people who never realize how much I miss something until I get it back.
This episode was in 3D which proved to be hard work for all those hunting for a pair of glasses from the local supermarket. I got mine and was able to watch in full 3D.
I did so for the whole episode, but it was a little bit headache inducing for me. Nevertheless, it was a fun change of pace. The 3D was actually well done.
“That’s not the way that dream was supposed to go.”
Before we talk about anything else, let’s just all collectively drop our jaws at the opening sequence. Just when you think they can’t flaunt Yvonne any other way, they come up with this.
It was also fun to see Chuck’s dream get a little … creepy at the end. What a great start to the show.
“I feel like a daffodil.”
I had forgotten that Dominic Monaghan was going to be in this episode. It seemed like all the talk lately was about Jerome Bettis.
I realize that a lot of you may watch Lost and know him from there, but to me he’ll always be Meriadoc Brandybuck. His character was actually pretty hilarious, and I loved how he kept getting tranqed.
I honestly didn’t know the guy had it in him to play that sort of character.
“I splashed myself silly.”
I thought the Buy More plot was a bit boring this time around. First off, why didn’t Morgan use his golden ticket for Anna? I swear she must really be a secret assassin always off on a mission.
The denouement of the Jerome Bettis storyline was pretty funny, but overall he was a bit underused I thought.
And I still don’t like Emmett. I don’t know why. He just doesn’t do it for me.
“It’s called beer. Beer brand.”
Okay that line was funny. That’s all. That line was funny.
“You think I look mad; wait til you see her.”
Oh Casey; how I love thee. Before there was an Yvonne Strahovski to me, there was Adam Baldwin. He enriches every episode with his dry wit.
I loved how he didn’t hesitate to tranq Chuck. That was classic.
“You guys use satellites?”
And now to the juicy part. Our girl Yvonne didn’t have a lot to work with this episode, and aside from her two minutes of glory at the beginning there wasn’t really a lot of 3D involving her.
Nonetheless she did phenomenal work as always, especially as Chuck convinced Tyler to go on stage for the good of the world.
I was surprised to see the Fulcrum shooting of Versus the Santa Claus wrapped up so soon. I really expected it to create a rift between Chuck and Sarah for a while.
Instead, he just laid it on the table and they collectively swept it under the rug. Who knows if it will come back to haunt them, but I feel like they were perhaps hinting at a bigger fallout.
Chuck may forgive Sarah as his agent, but they seemed more distant towards each other than they have in the past. It certainly didn’t feel like steamy romance was on the verge of erupting.
Whatever the case, the previews for the upcoming episodes look to be quite the thrill ride.
Screen captures will be up tomorrow (in 3D!). Until then, let me know what you think! Is there still a gap between Sarah and Chuck?

i think there’s still a gap between them and i read in the spoiler web whatever that they’re gonna break up again after the episode that they’re gonna pretend as happy married couple…that really sucks im rooting for Chuck and Sarah,i hope they become a real couple atleast at the end of the season…i love the 3D episode by the way…it just made me a little dizzy..

Yeah the gaps there. There were no romantic Charah moments. As far as them sweeping the shooting of the fulcrum agent they could have done it better I’d have to say. The 3D was nice for the first part but got upsetting. The episode was ok. But I think Chuck and Sarah got ferther apart this episode.

overall good episode.
About Dom, I think he’ll always be, to me, both Merry Brandybuck and Charlie Pace (from Lost), but his performance tonight reminded me a lot of his role in lost as a rockstar.
RIP Charlie Pace
And the first segment with Yvonne. Probably my favorite part.

Aside from Yvonne in that fantastically slinky dream outfit (and I dare anyone to argue that a sex dream of Yvonne turning into Yvonne going Lorena Bobbet on you isn’t the worst nightmare imaginable), the best scene in the episode was when Butterman won the Molly Ringwald challenge by ripping off Lester’s man-panties. Classic physical comedy!

no gap btw Sarah and Chuck. back to normal. that stuff she said about no her for a day was a test and Chuck passed with flying colors by getting in the car. predictable for him to do so but good ending nonetheless. she is also starting to let her guard down. lets just hope for the best btw them

There is definitely a gap between Chuck and Sarah, but hopefully it will fix itself as we move towards the end of the season

There’s definitely a gap between them. I think this episode showed that, but I guess we really will find out through the season. Oh, and by the way, the 3d gave me headaches!

Not a gap, more like a wall that seems to go up and down. We know how chuck feels, he has told her several times. As for Sarah, she definately has strong feelings for Chuck. Her facial expressions say it all, like when Chuck was trying to convince Tyler to do his concert to lure his killer out and Chuck talked about Sarah and Casey as being the best and he trusts them with his life. As for the rest of the season, Im expecting the same roller coaster ride as the first half. Looks like a classic Lana and Clark scenario.

I for one have been waiting with baited breath for Chuck to resume. Last night, while lean on a lot was still fun. I really long for the sexual tension that was so high in season one. It has just been so low lately! I also was expecting more from the CvsTSC shooting. I wonder if the sponsors were just gunning for a 3D tie in and the writers had to whip something up or what? Naturally, the opening scene was..(sigh….). I hope there will be some wallpaper worthy screen shots! By the way, I write for a music blog http://www.zunetracks.net and I frequently plug Chuck and music from the show with links to free downloads where available.

Yeah I felt a little bit of a gap, they really didnt have much time together in this episode.
And, on a very sad note, it seems that we won’t be getting Chuck back until Feb 16, according to NBC.com. There is no new Chuch listed for Feb 9, I don’t know why. I got a bit nervous when the trailer for upcoming episodes said, “In the coming weeks” instead of just next week.
I mean, its probably good though. We’ve gotten so much Chuck these last few weeks, its probably good to take a break.

@Tastytreatdarts- Is this confirmed?
February 3rd, 2009 at 3:13 pm
To answer lyakon’s question, I say yes. There is still a gap, although I am convinced they both love each other. Lets hope the confessions come one way or another.
A point I forgot to make earlier, I cant wait for these screen caps!

In the promo for season 2 episode 11 he says “In the coming weeks.” because they were showing clips from the next two episodes.

Chuck vs. The Best Friend and Chuck vs. The Suburbs.
February 3rd, 2009 at 7:55 pm
Dominic’s character was almost identical to his Lost character.
And, yes the Buy More scenes were a little slow this time around. As a non-american, the ex footballer did nothing for me.
I found the pace generally good, but the time-line seemed to indicate that weeks had passed since the shooting, “chuck’s been weird since the holidays” which seemed not to fit later on when Chuck confessed.
I found the whole confession scene absurd.
He’s having nightmares about it, he’s supposedly horrified and all that yet when he finally tells her what it was (after weeks of pent up … whatever), it was definitely “swept under the rug”. They glossed over it so fast that it was way too unrealistic for Chuck’s character especially.

@edwin
No one know for sure what’s up next Monday. There has been rumors that the State of the Union Address is next monday instead. But all other listings (excluding NBC of course) says “Chuck Versus The Best Friend” is scheduled. Bizarre.
February 3rd, 2009 at 11:55 pm
Apparently, NBC site fixed their date and so Chuck will continue next Monday. Hip hip Hooray!
February 4th, 2009 at 6:06 pm
Wahey! Thanks bzzg!
February 4th, 2009 at 9:55 pm
NBC’s site is back to Feb 16th again.
I definitely would have liked to have seen some better writing for that final conversation, but oh well. During the scene where Sarah and Casey needed to convince Chuck to talk to Tyler, I would have really liked to have seen Chuck take a few steps back when Sarah began approaching him…physically demonstrating his fear of/lack of trust in Sarah. Sarah’s reaction to this could confirm her understanding that at least part of his problem is with her…all without a word being said.
February 5th, 2009 at 10:26 pm
Oh, geez! I couldn’t find my 3D glasses. It made me restless while watching the whole episode.
“Casey, what is wrong with you?! The guy could have brain damage or liver failure.”
I like that one…& Sarah’s exasperated sigh when Casey shot a tranquilizer at Chuck. She’s so gorgeous – it’s so bloody distracting!
Despite this, however, I am disappointed how they casually threw away Sarah’s killing of Mauser. I was so expecting it to put a rift between the two all through the holidays. I am hoping that other episodes would be more…whew!
