Strahovski and Fat Ladies
WRONG ONE! You’re kissing the WRONG ONE!
Okay, now that that’s out of my system welcome to my humble review of the 7th episode of the season, Chuck Versus the Fat Lady.
I’m going to ‘live’ review this one. Which means I’ll write as I watch and see what happens.
As a warning, it might not be as spoiler free as normal. You’ll have to let me know how you prefer the live blogging to the more philosophical post-reviews.
This one started off better than last week by a mile. Watching Sarah try to act cool with Chuck’s admission of his relationship with Jill was excruciating but enjoyable at the same time. But then to see Jill being jealous of Sarah. Perfect triangle.
Red dresses + knee high boots are always for the win. How someone could need to think about their choice between Sarah & Jill is beyond me. I mean seriously, even the actress who plays Jill must know she’s no Yvonne Strahovski.
Buy Moria. Ha. FBI’s dumb, not deaf. Ha. More homosexual overtone antics with Casey and Chuck. That’s never going to get old, is it?
I don’t know if I feel proud that I know what a Fibonacci sequence is or embarrassed. Finally, the hot shower scene we’ve been waiting for. Strangely, I don’t feel bad for Jill at all. Is that bad?
Morgan’s beard holds so many secrets. Ha! Yet he didn’t know Jill was even in town. He needs to pay more attention.
Ok. Best scene of the entire series. Casey can sing like a choir boy in perfect pitch? Omigosh. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much. Casey simply has to get more screen time.
Meow – cat fight. I wanna see Sarah pull Jill’s hair out and throw her from the stage into a pit of ravenous lions. I really don’t mean offense to the actress who plays Jill. I’m sure she’s a fine lady; she’s just moving in on Sarah’s happiness and I just can’t have that.
Ew. Brute force encryption breaking? It’s the NSA in a fictional world where they can download computers into peoples’ heads and they can’t do better than that? Honestly.
Nerd code. That nerd code is so nerdy not even I would have a chance at cracking it. Who knows stuff like that and still works at Buy More?
I miss Awesome and Ellie.
Oh noes! They took Jill. Good. Keep her for all I care.
Seriously, Casey. You know Sarah’s not gonna shoot Chuck. The look on Yvonne’s face was heartbreaking. How does she do that with her face every week so well? She’s very underrated as an actress in my opinion.
Yvonne with a sniper rifle is pretty hawt. Jill could never hope to be that hot. Why are they so mean to Sarah? Mean mean writers.
You care about Chuck, Jill?! You don’t know how to care about Chuck, Jill. Sarah cares about Chuck. Grrr.
Sarah really does handle things pretty well. I don’t know how she keeps it together. I’m not going to be fooled by Jill’s cleavage. That doesn’t make her as pretty as Yvonne. They can’t fool me.
OMG. What an ending!!! I won’t spoil anything, but wow. This is really a phenomenal arc despite last week’s iffy direction. I can’t wait to see where it goes.
Okay. So looking over this review — it’s a mess. Let me know if you liked it. I think it might work as a companion piece to read while watching the episode.
Screen caps should be up tomorrow afternoon. Until then, talk about how much Jill needs to take a hike in our forums or right here in this post.

I enjoyed the play-by-play, but it might not make sense to a fan who hasn’t seen the episode yet.
I’m with you about Casey getting more screen time. That choir boy part was the high point of a freakin’ awesome episode!

I haven’t seen it (pacific time
) BUT the review is a little unorganized. It doesn’t flow. I like it, but because it’s a bit more detailed, but it’s a little messy. I don’t mind what you do though.

Great post, many of the comments that you made were my actual thoughts during the show, you should do this every week!
November 17th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
It is definitely unorganized. Kinda just flows from moment to moment. You might like it better when you’ve actually watched the episode.
I’ll probably go back to the old style next week, but it sure was fun this week.

If I read it AFTER I’ve seen it then I probably wouldn’t care haha. Lykaon! I finished my project I told you about btw!

Since I live on the east coast and saw the episode I really enjoyed this post, but if I hadn’t seen the eppy yet, I would have to agree that it didn’t flow. I have to say that I still enjoyed reading it though. Funny.

Maybe you could do both styles. The play-by-play as you watch the episode and then a briefer organized review for people who haven’t seen the episode yet.
…not to give you more work or anything.

I always watch the show before I read your reviews. While I prefer your “philosophical” reviews, this stream of consciousness review wasn’t bad.
‘Nuf ’bout that.
“I wasn’t hatched.” I had to freaking pause the video. I couldn’t watch because I was laughing so hard. I actually rewound and watched the scene again it was so dang funny. Adam Baldwin is a comic genius!
Yvonne is so pretty. Soooooo pretty. And emotive. I really want to see her kick Jill’s ass. Then, I want to see her marry Chuck, retire from the CIA, and have lots of ridiculously good looking, smart kids. I also want to be Chuck.
Morgan wins the award for Bestest Best Buddy. Him administering some vigilante justice in BuyMoria was the second time I had to pause the video to get the laughter out of my system. Owie.

Nothing easier than the nerd code
Water fusion heat is 80 cal/g, Thulium atomic number is 69… just subtract them.. and you get 11.
Chuck and Jull met at 11 a.m.
I really liked this joke

Watched first-read second-liked the review. You caught all my favorite spots but i nailed the ending ten minutes in. Easy arc to follow. Chuck must have been in really deep in college to not get past her now. She let him in because he looked like a puppy and ignored him till he revealed his cia status, and he knows that. Enjoyed all the little side trips at buy more. Still not partial to blondes but Yvonne can take me thru every known emotion with her face in imperceptible movements. Been watching live, television and movie acting for 50yrs and I don’t think I’ve seen any better.

Sarah needs to kick Jill’s ass. Quick. So this whole mess can be over and done with.
Casey… choir boy… not being hatched.. genius!

Great episode!!! I liked review, but I enjoy the “philosophical” ones better.. I would like to see some more quotes from the episode though. Hi-C!!

I loved this episode…and i did enjoy the review…plus it makes me feel good to know that i am not completely horrible for hatin Jill just because she is moving in on Chuck and making it difficult for Sarah and Chuck to be together…anyway lol loved the episode can’t wait for next week when Jill finally leaves!

Just found your site, Love Chuck, LOVE LOVE YVONNE.
Looking forward to the inevitable match between Sarah and Jill next week.
The only thing in the back of my mind has been, what if Jill isn’t faking the emotion? That will make it dramatically more interesting.
It was 5 years before Chuck got over Jill the first time…

I loved the review. I was able to relive the episode in my mind. Loved the shower scene and how Chuck, once the danger somewhat passed, realized that he was living a fantasy moment. Yvonne is great with her expressions. She is so terrific as an actress. She deserves more accolades. Can’t wait for this Jill thing to be over. Can’t stand Jill!! Chuck should know better but he needs his closure too. Just like Sarah had last season with Bryce. Then you should be able to move these two forward.
Casey and the Hi-C. I laughed so hard. He is so great with the one liners.
Can’t wait till Monday!

Awesome episode! I read it… Yvonne is simply the best! How does she do that? She really has to have more exposures! Terrific actress! Right now,i’d really love to see her kick Jill out or something! I can’t take more of her heartache! Casey, Hi-C and not being hatched… need I say more? Yvonne and Chuck rocks!

First time at site here. Glad I found ya. And I just managed to watch this episode for the first time. The ending was very well done, though I just knew Jill will appear on that screen! Yvonne has been all sorts of awesomeness so far, and keeps getting better and better! She sure can emote well, very well. So glad we get to see her on a weekly basis! Here’s hoping the ratings would keep increasing every week, and a third season is secured.

First time visitor and I love it! Love Yvonne! She’s simply amazing. I mean, there are actresses out there who can act but how many can emote like she does? How many can express everything in a scene without saying a word? Trust me, she’s going to be an academy award winning actress some day soon.
Now I know a lot of people are down on Jill, and for the record let me say I hate the biatch, but kudos to Jordana Brewster and her performance as the heartless bitch. I like Jordana normally but her performance makes it sooo easy for me to hate Jill.
Personally I thought the stream of consciousness review was pretty entertaining so if you ever get the idea to do one again I’ll be looking forward to it.
