Strahovski and Nemeses
Here we are with Episode 1.10 behind us, “Chuck Versus the Nemesis.”
It marks the return of Bryce Larkin, the further complication of our favorite relationship, and the most action-erific episode of the season.
If you’re one of those people that think Chuck is heavy on humor and too light on action, then this episode is for you. There are more guns, kicks, and stand-offs than you can shake a stick at. Ms. Yvonne Strahovski kicks major butt in this episode.
At the same time, this storyline is completely heart-wrenching. It’s everything you remember about high school love, and everything you hated about it at the same time. But it’s wonderful.
We’re not really left with any more of an answer than we had the week before, but it doesn’t matter.
For once, Morgan is actually tons of fun this episode. His triangle with Ana and Ellie is a delight to watch. And we always have Captain Awesome, who’s … amazing … as always.
Yvonne was particularly wonderful this episode. She managed to look ’stressed’ the entire episode, while remaining beautiful and convincing.
You could actually see the agony of her situation weighing on her in every seen, hidden behind whatever emotion she needed to convey.
I’ve said it before, but this girl is no fly-by-night tv beauty. She’s one of the best actresses to hit television in years.
Although last week’s cliffhanger was pretty awesome, this one may just tug at your heart strings a little bit more and make you eager to see next week’s episode.
As always, you can expect HD screen captures from the episode tomorrow afternoon. Until then, discuss the episode here or in more detail on the forums!
Note: The word ‘Nemeses’ is the plural of ‘Nemesis’ and is not a typo.

I loved this episode.. thought it was probably the best so far. IT was really funny but really sad at the same time. I can’t wait for next week!
Does anyone know how many more episodes are made or going to be made??

Check out the post right before this one.
It was just picked up for the whole season. They call it the ‘back 9′ so if that’s literal, then it means we’ll get a total of 22 episodes this season.
The writer’s strike complicates things. Hopefully the renewal is an indication the strike may end soon. If it doesn’t, they’ve got 13 episodes written and ready to go. That’s just 2 more episodes.

So how come Chuck keeps churning out new episodes when all the other shows are reeling from the strike. Not that I am complaining B)
November 26th, 2007 at 9:33 pm
They happened to have 13 episodes written when the strike started, so those are being/have been filmed and produced.
The ‘back 9′ could be in jeopardy if the strike doesn’t end soon I would imagine. We’ll just have to wait and see.
The negotiations continued today. Let’s just hope they work it out, get the writer’s their fair share, and get our shows back on TV!

so is Chuck going to last a full season??
Sorry I’m kinda new at this!

Providing the strike ends and the writers can write the last 9 episodes, then yes, it will get its full season.

I see. Yes, I am getting to a point of needing my Yvonne fix every week
November 26th, 2007 at 9:42 pm
That’s what Strahotski.com is for! You can always get a fix here. And when you get tired of that, you can always check out our Forums to discuss Yvonne with other like-minded fans!

Thanks again, Ludwig. I corrected it.

But anyway, Versus the Nemesis was badass! Such a great episode!

Yvonne does it again
*sigh* such a gorgeous lady! man this episode was kinda sad but you know the sneak peak at the end of the episode? well they kinda gave away which phone she was gonna pick up -_-. oh well…..

@Ludwig, Rob
Actually, if you look at all my reviews I always name them ‘Strahovski and INSERT PLURAL OF TITLE HERE’.
The plural of Nemesis is Nemeses. I looked it up.
Good catch on the episode number, though.
@Popi
That photo is one of the mystery photos sent to us by Ludwig and Latincandy a while back. There are a few of that style, all great pictures!

Great episode, i look forward to Chuck every week now. It has surpassed Heroes in my fav show lineup. In my opinion, it’s the best thing to hit TV since the pilot of Alias!

“they kinda gave away which phone she was gonna pick up -_-. oh well…..”
Not necessarily - she could answer Bryce’s call, but then tell him she’s staying with Chuck. Whatever happens, and no matter what they showed in the preview, it’s not much of a mystery to me as they’re certainly not taking her off the show; they know that would ruin it for the fans. The real mystery for me is whether (and how) Bryce will pop up again in the future. He’s gone again but he didn’t die, he’s out there lurking somewhere in the dark, ready to resurface at any moment to cloud the picture all over again. I feel more plot twists coming!

it would definitely ruin it for this fan if Yvonne ever leaves….

So there are 3 more episodes AFTER “Chuck vs. the Nemesis” already in the can? I read today the show is getting picked-up for a full season, 22 episodes (I know many of you probably already know this)…however, I couldn’t discern from this post how many episodes are shot. Darn writer’s strike! Gotta’ support the union though! =)
This is one of the best shows ever…”Chuck vs. the Nemesis” might have been one of my fav episodes if it just wasn’t so damn sad! lol Great action and an incredible cliff-hanger. Does anyone know the track played at the end of the show? The song sounded like it might be by “Band of Horses”, but I couldn’t tell for certain. Another dynamic of the show that I find particularly appealing is the soundtrack or musical score…I once read Josh would write much of The OC (which I didn’t watch) while listening to new, contemporary music…turns-out he’s a real music buff. (He has good musical tastes in my humble opinion.) lol
Well thanks for your time guys…Im a newbie to “strahotski.com” but will probably visit again. Yvonne & Zach have a great on-air chemistry…she’s pretty “easy on the eyes”, so to speak. I also look forward to seeing Yvonne in that indie film in which she portrays a heroin user. Anyway, Im so stoked the show was picked-up! Chuck is the only show worth watching these days…life’s too busy to watch anything else and quite frankly, most other programs pale by comparison to Chuck’s brilliance.
TY,
S
