Strahovski and Salami
Did I say last week was the best episode? So soon, but THIS week was the best episode, Episode 1.09 - Chuck Versus the Imported Hard Salami.
When Chuck was pitched to NBC so many months ago, this storyline must have been the pitch. The show has hit fullstride. It has pulled itself up from charming with potential to be the absolute best new show this season.
Mark my words, the viewership will go up. The story is so angst-ridden, so honest, so fun, and so engaging. It is what television is all about.
In this episode, we find out that Chuck’s new gal Lou is friendly with a pretty important smuggler. That smuggler is bringing in some pretty hot goods, and our team has to figure out what it is. I’ll leave that part to the viewer.
It is rare that a television show can make the viewer feel so much, and this is all thanks to a remarkable cast of characters.
Zachary Levi and Yvonne Strahovski have enough chemistry to carry the show alone. Every emotion comes across in their faces. We don’t need words with actors like these.
I said last week that the most important thing for the show to do was to keep Sarah and Chuck apart, and the way in which they’ve done so is heart-breaking. They can’t be together now. It’s so complicated and so delightful at the same time.
Knowing that the characters really love each other is a common plot device; knowing that they know is even better.
This show is billed as a comedy, plays like an action, and at its core is a romance.
We may have been fans of Yvonne Strahovski here for a long time, and even Chuck. But now Chuck has finally arrived.
Last week I hoped Chuck would be huge. This week I know it will be.
As always, screen captures will be up soon. Until then, check out our forums and talk about the episode!

That was the best episode by far. I think that once the Bryce storyline plays out that Chuck and Sarah will be togehter. I hope that it is picked up after the writers strike. Because it deserves to be.

Ok, you guys talk like you’ve already seen the show! Are you on the east coast? We west coast fans still have another hour to wait! Aaaahhhhh!

Haha. Yah I’m on the east coast. That’s why I intentionally didn’t give anything away, though.
You’re gonna love it!

Yes many of us are on the east coast and have already seen it. I got interrupted by the phone a few times though so I guess I’ll just *have* to watch it again to pick up what I missed.

This show is so freaking good. Better every week. I so sympathize with the writers and want them to get all they should, but man, why now? Great show hope will return after all the contracts are finalized. I love the entire cast, what a great ensemble.

After seeing this episode, hopefully people will realize how good this show is and how good it can become. The sexual tension is going to go thru the roof. I really hope it gets picked up. The TV people have a way of getting rid of good shows.

just passing by to say best.episode.ever!
I am so glad i get to say that phrase every week because Chuck truly does get better each episode…
The kiss was better than expected and Josh Schwartz has a way of making every single final scene of each episode unforgettable.

jsut watched it an hour ago. it was real good. loved the part where Sarah had to fake cry in order to “sell it.” So funny. I know this show is great, but so far the number of viewers are a little low for my expectations.

You know, I just watched this episode again, a few weeks after it first aired, and while I really liked it the first time, I loved it the second time. The writing is really quite brilliant. Did you notice how closely Chuck and Lou’s relationship mirrors Sarah and Chuck’s relationship? From meeting over a broken phone, right down to the end of the relationship “Thank you for being honest” line.
And then, I can’t think of a better way to torture your main characters than to let anger, resentment, and sexual tension build and build and build…and then confine the characters in a very small space, say, the trunk of a car. Classic!
Chuck Versus the Imported Hard Salami is my favorite episode of the season!
