The Fate of Chuck
We’ve been talking and speculating about exactly how long Chuck has left in it with the writer’s strike going on.
Unfortunately, Chuck was never officially greenlit for an entire season and rumor is that it won’t be until the strikes are over. This could spell bad news for the fledgling series whose ratings have been described as ‘on the bubble.’
So what can we expect from Chuck?
TVGuide.com has this to impart:
Thirteen episodes will be produced. Eight episodes have aired, so there are five left.
From the announced air dates, that could mean 3 more episodes before the hiatus, and then 2 more when we return from the holidays.
After that? The future seems unclear. Freshman shows are reportedly usually greenlit for a full season around the December timeframe. With a writer’s strike in full force, though, this deadline may not be feasible.
Could this mean the end for Chuck? Only time will tell. Savor these next 5 episodes, though, because no one quite knows what happens afterward.
On the brighter note, Yvonne Strahovski has proven that she’s a great actress and I’m sure she has a long career ahead of her. That means that Strahotski.com will live on regardless, bringing you all of the latest news, pictures, and trivia about our favorite Australian hottie.
Thanks to reader Newberry for pointing me to the article.

Some people are saying the same thing on these message boards I post at. It’s a Chuck fansite and as far as everyone is concerned there, we still have the 5 episodes left.
You say “on the bubble,” aren’t Chuck’s ratings good enough to get picked up and a 2nd season?

The term means that it’s just on the edge such that it’s not completely and immediately obvious whether the show would get renewed. It’s not an obvious hit like some shows are.
You can check out this link for a rundown of the rankings for its timeslot.
It usually places 3rd or 4th for the timeslot. That’s not great, considering how few ‘real’ networks there are.
But it’s decent. And given it’s pretty rabid fanbase, I’d say it probably has a lot going for it.
It just doesn’t have enough viewers to make it a sure thing.

I thought 7.5+mill was a good thing

It’s definitely a good thing! It means it’s not a flop and has a lot of potential.
But it’s also not a runaway hit.
But that doesn’t mean that I don’t love it! I want it to stay on the air forever. I certainly don’t want anyone to think that I’m down on the show.

I love the show just as much as you do. Here’s to many seasons to come, but damn the strike.

Chuck’s biggest competitor seems to be “Dancing with the stars”. It’s in the same time slot. That seems to be the favorite on that day and time. The good news is that it wraps up in 3 weeks. With the writer’s strike continueing, viewers will be hungry for new entertainment. They will discover “Chuck” like we did, and fall in love with it.

I say this everywhere I go: it is in a very good network. NBC has a good rep of renewing shows other networks *cough cough Fox cough cough* would otherwise cancel. The Office had low ratings its first season and look at it now. Also, Scrubs has always had low ratings and it’s on its 7th season. Also, Law and Order Criminal intent had super low ratings and instead of cancelling it they transferred it over to their sister network USA. Also- it’s Josh Schwartz! How can you deny him lol? NBC seems to like Chuck and Bionic Woman- I honestly think they’d cancel BW before they cancel Chuck. Just my two cents…

Chuck is here to stay, but the strike will just delay it a bit.

Someone in the Chuck group on Facebook said that Chuck is getting “really good ratings in the male 18-35 demographic and that’s super rare for tv and can make them lots and lots of money when it comes to getting advertisers”. This person said it came from a source who said that because of this Chuck is the only new show that NBC isn’t likely to cancel.
I have no idea how accurate any of that is, and I always get skeptical about blanket declarations (e.g., ” *only* one not likely to be cancelled”) but it’s still a positive opinion and I hope it’s true.

Chuck was NBC’s #1 new show last week, and so it looks like it will be again this week. Considering the lineup it has to go against compared to the other new shows on NBC I cant see how the could not renew it.

Did anybody see the previews for next week’s episode? I was just watching 30 Rock, and they have a different preview than they did after Monday’s episode. It shows Chuck and Sarah kissing….!!! That thing unveiled in the other preview which people think is Bryce, I think Sarah and Chuck think (god there’s a lot of thinks) is a bomb. So I’m guessing they kiss when they think they’re going to die. It looks like Sarah kisses Chuck though. Discuss…

I am guessing that Lou will be short lived and Bryce will eventually be put back on ice, literally. I think that Chuck and Sarah will end up being together
